Bucket list: Spring in Washington State

Spring in Washington State offers a plethora of vibrant activities and natural spectacles. With our natural beauties, tons to see, it's time to explore. Don't be afraid to hop in the car and see all of the beauty this state has to offer. Some may be a quick drive, while, some may be a weekend get away.
Here's a curated list to help you get started and make the most of the season:
1. Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Held annually from April 1 to April 30, this festival showcases expansive fields of colorful tulips in the Skagit Valley. It's a photographer's paradise and a delightful experience for all ages.
2. University of Washington Cherry Blossoms Visit the Quad at the University of Washington in Seattle to witness the breathtaking bloom of Yoshino cherry trees. Peak bloom typically occurs in late March, offering a canopy of delicate pink and white flowers. My husband is an alumni and we can tell you from experience, this is a must-see and sight worth seeing!
3. Washington State Apple Blossom Festival Taking place in Wenatchee from the last weekend in April to the first weekend in May, this festival celebrates the region's apple industry with parades, a carnival, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. We all know Washington is known for their apples. Though the Honey Crisp did not originate in Washington, we sure have embraced this delicious apple.
4. Explore Washington's National Parks Spring is an excellent time to visit the state's national parks:
-
Mount Rainier National Park: Experience the majestic mountain with fewer crowds and enjoy early-season hikes.
-
Olympic National Park: Explore diverse ecosystems, from temperate rainforests to coastal beaches, as they come alive in spring.
-
North Cascades National Park: Witness dramatic mountain landscapes and cascading waterfalls fueled by melting snow.
Run don't walk to view these wonders!
5. Visit the Washington Park Arboretum Located in Seattle, the arboretum features a stunning collection of azaleas along Azalea Way, which burst into vibrant colors during spring. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks and picnics.
6. Discover Takhlakh Lake Situated northwest of Mount Adams, Takhlakh Lake offers serene views and reflects the snow-capped peak. It's a perfect destination for camping, fishing, and hiking as the weather warms. There's more to Washington than Mount Rainier (though, arguably, the most beautiful mountain that you can view from almost any point in Western WA).
7. Attend the Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival Celebrating Japanese culture and the friendship symbolized by cherry blossoms, this festival at Seattle Center features cultural performances, exhibits, and authentic cuisine.
8. Road Trip Through the Columbia River Gorge Embark on a scenic drive along Highway 14 to experience dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and the vibrant hues of spring foliage. The gorge offers numerous spots for hiking and photography.
9. Wine Tasting in Walla Walla Valley Spring is an excellent time to explore Washington's renowned wine country. Walla Walla offers a variety of wineries, top-notch restaurants, and charming downtown shops, making it a perfect weekend getaway.
10. Motorcycle Rides Through Scenic Routes For motorcycle enthusiasts, spring provides ideal conditions to explore routes like the Mount Rainier Loop or the North Cascades Highway, offering breathtaking views and exhilarating rides.
