It will likely come as no surprise that craftsman style homes and bungalows are architectural staples here, and help to ensure that the area retains its rustic allure for generations to come. These properties will typically enjoy acres upon acres of private property, which is also home to several species of wildlife as well. Closer to town is where you’ll find the more traditional homes for sale, like low-rise condos and newer single-family houses.
There are also a number of new construction homes here as well, but development is slow because the local government wants to ensure that the quaintness and tranquility that Fircrest is known for remains intact for generations to come. Because of this, many of the newer developments are for individual homes, not massive community development projects like you’ll find in larger cities.
With its curved, aesthetically designed streets, sidewalks, and sewers, Regents Park offered quiet living with a strong sense of community. The first store was established in 1919 on Farallone Avenue. The Fircrest Golf Club was incorporated in 1923. Through the years, Fircrest continues to preserve its sense of community. During the depression, milk and hot meals were provided to needy school children. In 1936, ten dollars and ten days created one hundred dollars worth of Christmas toys for the children. A 150-acre fire threatened Fircrest in 1949, but no homes were lost.
Today, Fircrest has lived up to the dream of a residential park. The City has a reputation of quality living, great recreational facilities, and setting the standard for community oriented policing.
